The City of Carmel’s Department of Stormwater Management was established in 2014 to manage the city’s ever increasing costs to maintain existing stormwater infrastructure, construct new infrastructure, address localized drainage issues and prevent waterway pollution.
The Carmel City Council later established a new flat rate for residential properties, used to calculate fees for non-residential properties, as well as an annual automatic rate increase. The department is administered by City Engineering Department staff.
The department is also responsible for implementing the City’s Stormwater Management Plan.
