Jessica Beer has been a resident of Carmel since 2001. She served as a mayoral appointee on the Carmel Parks Board from 2019 to 2024 and is a graduate of the Hamilton County Leadership Academy class of 2022. Jessica owned and operated The Urban Chalkboard Play Cafe in Carmel.

Jessica received her PhD in developmental psychology from City University of New York and is a faculty member in the Department of Psychology at Butler University and director of the Play Lab studying play equity. She serves on the DEI Strategic Implementation Team at Butler and is a member of the Inclusion Advocates program at Butler. She was employed with IU School of Medicine as a post-doctoral fellow and researcher studying development of children who use cochlear implants and is author of numerous research publications in this field.

Jessica lives in Carmel with her husband Mike. Her daughter Georgia a graduate of CHS in 2020 and her son Wyatt is a junior at CHS.
